It’s a New Year and it’s the time we think and thank and try to improve, so that we can be your favourite establishment. Thank you for all the cards and gifts, and custom and goodwill we have received this festive season – it’s been our busiest December ever, with some wonderful parties. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve were both great village occasions – really ought not to be missed. The weather being so mild we even had a BBQ on the 31st of December.
In January and February we have arranged some events to liven up the grey months.
Our Food & Wine Matching evenings have been so well supported that we are having two in January to accommodate every one. The Best of British Food will be matched with New World Wines on the 18th and 25th of January, two consecutive Wednesdays. Please choose which date suits you best and book soon. It costs £30 p.p for 6 courses matched with 6 wines - good value and a great experience.
And now for something completely different - on the 1st February @7.30pm we are having a Cheese and Wine Fashion Show! Booking is for tables of 2, 4, 6, or 10 and is £15 p.p. For this you get a delectable Cheese Board and a half a bottle of good wine per person. The Fashion Show is by Jeeves - Ladies & Men’s Fashion – and some of the models may be recognisable! It will be a laugh so please reserve your tickets and tables early.
As per usual Thursday Nights are Steak night – a habit with which we will continue in 2012. It is always advisable to book as we are still getting big groups and we only have seating for 60. Likewise Sundays are over-subscribed and booking is advised.
We serve evening meals from Tuesdays to Saturdays 7pm to 9pm - good food freshly cooked, and you get to sit in front of a open fire or log burner in Europe ‘s (and the UK’s) most favourite Yachting Bar. Once again we were shortlisted in the Wight Vodka Best Yachtsman’s Bar in the world.
Subscriptions are now due for the King and Queen Yacht Club. At £5 per year we must be one of the cheapest Yacht Clubs in the world! With the funds raised we affiliate to the RYA, which allows us to run a Charity Yacht Race annually. The 2012 Pursuit date will be announced shortly. We also have new larger flags available at £30. We love receiving photographs from all over the world featuring our flag – some of last year’s best were from Cape Town, The Antarctic, The Soggy Dollar Bar and the Shozoloza America’s Cup Headquarters in Valencia. In 2012 we are expecting to see the flag in interesting places – if only Team Sanya can now have some luck our flag will fly at a Volvo Ocean Race stopover port. We also know of a flag that’s gone to the Sudan. Remember you get a complimentary Jug of Dark & Stormy on your next visit if we use your photo on the website or on our wall.
Once again thank you for the support during 2011 - we hope we can continue to run a good establishment, popular with yachtsmen and women, racer chasers and ordinary folk wanting to enjoy a proper pub.
