Dear Visitor,
Well the way I see it, Summer 2011 is over… The leaves are falling off the trees, the chimneys to be swept and wood ordered for the log fire. Soon we’ll have homemade soups and Winter Warmers on the menu and by next week, the wood burner in The Lower Deck will be lit and stay on until the Spring.
We are serving evening meals from Tuesdays through to Saturdays; booking is recommended as we are offering freshly cooked food, using good locally sourced ingredients – which is proving to be very popular. Steak Night and Sunday Roasts continue to be oversubscribed – so booking is essential on these days especially now as its getting too chilly to eat outdoors.
Wednesday 28th September at 5.30pm is the annual Brambles Cricket Match on the Bramble Bank. When the tide comes in and spoils play, we will be returning to the K&Q for a BBQ, so if you are not already going to the RSYC, we suggest you race back to continue the celebration of a unique event in your favourite establishment. All welcome £5 p.p for Steak Burgers or Reggae Chicken Burgers.
Live Music is scheduled for tonight, Saturday, 24th September when Mark Smith on the Harmonica, will be entertaining us with a Blues Band from 8.45pm. More good music is scheduled for Sunday 2nd October at 6.30pm to “celebrate” Autumn – Stu Simpson is singing along with some of Frankie & the Squealers – always a good night…guaranteed.
The Hamble Business Group has been meeting every 2nd Thursday morning in “The Lower Deck” at The K&Q since February and has a good core group all who have benefitted from membership. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. It costs £5 and includes coffee & a pastry as well as making contact with people who care about local community issues and want to grow their businesses by networking. The next meeting is on Thursday 6th October at 7.30 am.
A note for your diaries – the next K&Q Food & Wine Matching Evening is on 1st November – an Italian Theme, starting at 7.30pm @ £30 per person – 5 courses & 5 wines – great value combined with great flavours. Limited places available – please reserve your tickets at the bar.
The 2011 Poker Rib Raid will be held on Saturday 12th November at 10am – we’re doing a charity drive for the Hamble Lifeboat and all owners of ribs are welcome to enter. The winner is determined by the best Poker hand, each card collected after the successful navigation of 5 Solent buoys – great fun for all ages followed by a party at the pub.
You may have noticed the black and red K&Q “Watered & Supported” Wristbands we are selling – again proceeds to The Hamble Lifeboat – please support £3 each from the bar.
The Lower Deck at The K&Q is available for Christmas Parties. We already have several reservations so please contact us to discuss the options that can vary - lunch or dinner, sit down or buffet style, hot or cold, English or Eastern – whatever suits your team.
We thank you for supporting us through a very busy summer. We are now preparing for a wonderful winter season and invite you to join us in all our planned festivities at “The Rum Pub”.
X The Queen
