Happy New Year and may 2011 bring us all much fun and happiness!!!
A big thank you to so many of you for voting for us in the Wight Vodka and Scuttlebutt Favourite Yachting Bar Competition. We were voted as the Best Sailing Bar in The UK And Europe - not in the world but in our world we reckon we rate - thank you for your enthusiasm and support.
We are back to normal after all the festivities starting with a Curry Night on Wednesday 12th January to "spice up your life" at £10 p.p - eat as much as you like, followed by our usual Steak Night on Thursday (Every Thursday due to popular demand) For £12 you get a 10oz Rib Eye Steak with all the extras included. On Saturday 15th January we WILL be serving evening meals - please book.
Our next Food and Wine Evening is on 26th January - South African Themed as Mikey has been back in the home country doing some culinary research. This is always a popular evening and tickets are limited. Everyone eats well, drinks a lot and learns a bit from the sommelier Julien Durand who selects the wines to match the flavours of the food.
K&Q Sunday Roasts are as popular as ever - we cater for 100 and sell out every Sunday, so do book. We usually offer a choice of Beef, Pork, Chicken (£8.95) or Lamb Shanks (£10.95) with a very generous portion of vegetables.
We now have a fully functioning wood burner in "The Lower Deck" which has warmed the pub up considerably and as a result this area is very popular as it's quieter to dine in than the pub's "Top Deck". "The Queen's Table" can seat up to 12 so it's ideal for large groups but must be specifically requested. Our other large tables can seat up to 10.
Membership of The King & Queen Yacht Club 2011 is now open. We have membership cards @ £5, club burgees @ £15 and King & Queen flags @ £30. This Yacht Club is affiliated to The RYA which enables us to run a Charity Yacht Race annually - The famous King & Queen Pursuit Race is scheduled for 2nd April 2011. Please diarise this date and don't miss out on a great fun day on the water, "racing" and then one helluva a party afterwards at the pub - all in aid of the Hamble Lifeboat entry is open to all sailing boats.
A Hamble Business Breakfast Group is having its first meeting on the 3rd February @7.30am for anyone interested in networking with local businesses. Please speak to Janet, or to John Murphy for more details.
A brief reminder to "The Hamble Crabbers" - the next evening meal is happening on Friday 4th February. This a group of locals who meet for a set meal in "The Lower Deck" and in so doing raise funds for The Hamble Lifeboat - Tickets are £20 and numbers are limited to 24 - if you are interested tickets are avaialble at the bar.
